Friday 6th September marks an important day for the community of St. Thomas' as we celebrate our Feast and Foundation Day. While we actually celebrate St Thomas' feast day on the 13th July, the foundation day is celebrated on the 6th of September. It was on this day in 1936 that Archbishop Duhig blessed the
foundation stone for what is now our main school building. Prior to this building, the church
veranda had been used since the school began under the care of the Sisters of the Good
Samaritan in 1929.
On Friday we will reflect on our school's rich history, with a sense of
excitement for the future that awaits the young people in our school. During this Year of
Gratitude, I am certainly grateful for the vision of the Sisters of the Good Samaritan for
laying the foundations of the vibrant community we have today.
The day will be a special day filled with the whole school participating a range of rotating
activities. The students will move through the activities in their house teams and will
celebrate with a whole school picnic lunch. In the afternoon the whole school will be
celebrating Mass at 2pm with Father Dave. Father Dave has kindly offered to lead
us in Eucharist and he will be coming to us from Carina.
Everyone is welcome to attend Mass.
